PC0128 Installation Guide

Notes：

1. Disassembling the device may affect its warranty coverage. Please refer to Nintendo’s official warranty policy. To reduce the risk of accidental damage, disconnect the Joy-Con 2 battery immediately after removing the shell.
2. Follow ESD (electrostatic discharge) safety procedures throughout the process.
3. Keep all removed parts and screws in a safe place.
4. To avoid damaging the Joy-Con 2, make sure all parts are correctly installed and returned to their original positions during reassembly.
5. When reinstalling the components, tighten each screw only until it is securely in place. Do not apply excessive force. The plastic shell and PCB are fragile, and overtightening may damage them.

Please note that the order of the video tutorial may differ slightly from this document. Both provide workable disassembly and reassembly sequences. Choose the sequence that best suits your situation.

Disassembly Procedure：

1.Check the Tools

Please make sure all tools are ready. The package includes:

• Screwdriver
• Pry bar
• Opening pick
• Tweezers
• ESD-safe gloves
• Spare screws: Phillips CB1.4 × 3.0, Phillips CB1.4 × 3.5, Phillips CB1.4 × 6.0, and Y-type CB1.4 × 3.0
• Spare L/R button springs
• Spare ZL/ZR button springs

Once you are ready, put on the ESD-safe gloves and begin the replacement procedure below.

2.Remove the Right Joy-Con

- Remove the Edge Screw：

Use a Y-type screwdriver to remove the two black 3.0 mm screws on the left edge of the controller.

- Separate the Plastic Strip：

Insert the opening pick into the gap below the controller’s right shoulder button, with the tip facing downward. Pry up the plastic strip along the right edge, then slide the pick toward the front of the controller.

Slide the pick downward along the strip to release the clips and adhesive securing it to the controller body. Apply slow and steady upward pressure to lift the bottom edge. Repeat along the entire length until the strip is completely detached, then remove it.

- Remove the Right Edge Screws：

Use a Y-type screwdriver to remove one black 3.0 mm screw.

Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove one silver 3.0 mm screw.

- Remove the Shell：

Do not force the back cover off at this stage. Insert the opening pick into the gap between the front and rear halves on the right side of the controller. Slide it downward to release the clips.

Turn the controller over. Insert the tip of another pick next to the release button at the top of the controller. Press the release button through the gap while sliding the back cover downward with your other hand to release the clips.

Open the back cover. Firmly grasp the two wires—yellow and white—above the vibration motor connector at the bottom of the controller board, then pull the beige connector straight out of its socket.

⚠ The bottom of the back cover is still connected to the controller by a cable. Do not force the shell off completely.

⚠ Pulling the cable gently will not damage it, but do not pick at the cable’s outer insulation with your fingernails.

- Disconnect the Battery：

Firmly grasp the white JST connector on the battery cable with tweezers or your fingers, then pull it straight out of the socket.

- Remove the Buttons：

Lift and remove the release button. Insert the pry bar between the controller’s top shoulder button (R) and trigger button (ZR). Use the opening pick to pry the trigger button away from the shoulder button until it detaches from the controller.

- Remove the Battery Compartment Screws：

Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the five screws securing the middle frame:

• Four silver 3.5 mm screws
• One black 6.0 mm screw

While gently holding the middle frame, pull the R bumper button off its mounting pin and remove it. Then remove the release-button mounting bracket.

- Lift the Trigger Button Board：

Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the silver 3.5 mm screw securing the trigger button board. Insert the tip of the tweezers beneath the board and gently pry it upward until it pops out.

- Remove the Middle Frame and Disconnect the FPC：

Remove the middle frame.

Use the tip of the tweezers to lift the locking tab on the trigger-button ZIF connector located on the controller board. Gently pull the cable out of the socket with tweezers or your fingers. Remove the trigger-button board.

Repeat this step to disconnect the remaining three ZIF connectors on the controller board.

- Remove the Mainboard：

Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the five black 3.0 mm screws securing the circuit board to the controller.

Insert the tip of the pry bar between the circuit board and the controller near the battery connector socket. Pry up the board until you can grip its edge with your fingertips. Lift the outer edge of the board to approximately 45° so that it clears the joystick assembly. Remove the board.

- Remove the Joystick：

Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two silver 3.5 mm screws securing the joystick.

Congratulations! You have completed the disassembly.

 

Follow the same steps above to disassemble the left Joy-Con.
