A1. Windows/MacOS/Linux systems are supported.
Q2. What are the limitations of One Cable to Dual Monitor?
A2. Standard, Touch, and Pro versions all support a wired connection to the computer via the USB-C to USB-C 4.0 cable we provide.
It's important to note that your computer needs to support DP MST (DisplayPort Multi-Stream Transport). This feature allows you to One Cable to Dual Monitor for the connection.
Q3. Why does the standard version have two HDMI ports, and which version should I choose for a PC desktop?
A3. The standard version features two Mini HDMI ports to accommodate Windows PCs and a wider range of devices. This is because many older PC (Desktop) devices lack Type-C video output interfaces. We have included two HDMI ports in the standard version for this reason. The Pro version, on the other hand, is more geared towards laptop and Mac users. For PC Desktop users, the UltraView feature via HDMI can also fully utilize dual screens.
Q4. Which version should be chosen for Windows and Mac laptops?
A4. For Windows laptops: either the Pro, standard or touchscreen version is suitable, as Windows laptops typically have full-featured USB-C ports with support for DP MST video output, allowing for a single-cable connection to enable the ABC extension mode.
For Mac: choose either the Pro or standard version. Both UltraView Mode and DisplayLink are designed to address the issue of Macs being unable to connect two screens with a single cable. However, if you specifically want UltraView Mode, then the Pro version is your only choice.
Q5. Does the standard version support single-cable connection?
A5. All versions of FlipGo enable connecting two screens with just one cable, as the FlipGo support DP MST (ABC extension mode). This daisy chain technology can be found in many monitors and docks. However, for Macs, which lack support for DP MST (even with Thunderbolt 4 ports), only ABB is supported. Therefore, in the Pro version, we have introduced DisplayLink and UltraView Mode to achieve a one-cable solution.
Q6. Is each screen of the FlipGo 2.2/2.5K resolution, or is it the combined resolution of the two screens?
A6. Each screen of the FlipGo has an individual resolution of 2.2/2.5K.
Q7. Why is the screen of FlipGo set to 60Hz?
A7. DisplayLink and UltraView Mode are implemented through hardware chips. Due to the current capabilities of these chips and the bandwidth limitations of DP (DisplayPort), all versions of FlipGo support a maximum of 60Hz. DP MST (Multi-Stream Transport) splits a single DP bandwidth into two to enable a single-cable connection to dual screens, which reduces the video signal bandwidth each screen can receive.
Q8. What is UltraView? DuoViews? Stacked Views?
A8. UltraView:
Large Screen Mode typically involves setting up the entire FlipGo as a single display area. In this mode, multiple monitors are combined into one large, unified workspace, allowing windows and applications to span across multiple screens. This is particularly useful for users who need a lot of screen space for their work, such as in stock trading, video editing, or working with large spreadsheets.
DuoViews:
Split Screen Mode refers to displaying two independent windows or applications on the two screens of FlipGo. This mode allows users to view and operate multiple applications side by side on a single FlipGo, thereby enhancing efficiency in multitasking. Split Screen Mode can usually be easily set up in the operating system, like the “Split View” in Windows or “Split-screen View” in macOS.
Stacked Views: only represents the stacked top and bottom arrangement under DuoViews.
Portrait Views: only represents the left and right stacking arrangement under DuoViews.
Q9. What kind of display panel is used in the screen?
A9. It is IPS Screen.
Q10. What is DisplayLink?
A10. DisplayLink is a hardware technology that enables video signals to be transmitted to monitors, TVs, or projectors via common interfaces such as USB, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet. This technology is widely used in multi-monitor setups and is particularly popular among users who need to work across multiple screens.
Q11. Why choose the DisplayLink solution?
A11. Due to the restrictions on M1, M2, and M3 MacBooks by Apple, some of these laptops can only connect to a maximum of one external display without laptop lid is closed. Moreover, even higher-configured MacBooks, such as the M3 Max MacBook, cannot connect to two displays with a single cable. DisplayLink is currently the best solution that overcomes this limitation. Commonly found in high-end docking stations, we have innovatively brought it to the dual-screen portable monitor, greatly optimizing the experience of connecting Mac to a stacked monitor.
Q12. How to Use DisplayLink?
A12. Certainly! Here's a more idiomatic English version of your instructions:
Installing the Driver: First, download and install the necessary driver from the DisplayLink official website (https://www.synaptics.com/products/displaylink-graphics). Make sure to choose a driver version that's compatible with your operating system.
Connecting the Device: Connect the FlipGo to your host device using a USB-C cable through the C2 port on the FlipGo.
Getting Started: Once you've completed these steps, you're all set to start using the additional monitor for work, study, or entertainment.
Q13. Other important information about DisplayLink:
A13. DisplayLink consumes some CPU performance during use. In our tests (M1 Pro MacBook), its impact on computer performance is minimal, and the final experience depends on your computer configuration and resolution (FlipGo's resolution is 2.2K at 60Hz, with low performance consumption).
Compared to native DisplayPort, DisplayLink may have slightly lower image quality, but it is sufficient for the vast majority of use cases (images browsing, videos, daily office tasks). If your work requires very high display accuracy, consider using the DP (USB-C1) interface, and both Mac and Windows computers can fully utilize two screens in UltraView mode（USB-C1, DP）.
In DisplayLink's UltraView mode(USB-C2), Mac currently cannot enable HiDPI. This is due to the lacking of HiDPI optimization for the special resolution (2256*3008)in the DisplayLink's UltraView mode(USB-C2). Therefore, we recommend connecting via USB-C1 to enable UltraView mode. And we will continue to work on optimizing this experience.
In scenarios involving rapid window movements and similar activities, DisplayLink may introduce some jelly effects, so it is not recommended to use DisplayLink connections for gaming purposes.
Q14. Concerned about viruses in drivers?
A14. Here's what you should know:
When you first connect, you'll need to install the driver software, and it's a straightforward process. During installation, you might receive warning alerts – rest assured, these are often false positives. Our drivers are safe and won't cause any harm to your system.
Q15. Is it possible to connect multiple FlipGo units to a single device?
A15. Absolutely, but it hinges on the connected device's capabilities. The key factor here is your device's graphics card, which determines the maximum output and thus how many FlipGo units it can support.
Q16. Regarding the touch version, is the entire screen touch-sensitive or is it limited to specific areas?
A16. Both the upper and lower screens are touch-sensitive.
Q17. Can I connect two host devices separately to the FlipGo?
A17. For the Pro version, it can only connect to one host. However, the Standard and Touch versions can each connect to two different devices. (The Standard and Touch versions can connect to two devices via either Type-C + HDMI or HDMI + HDMI connections).
Q18. As far as connectivity goes does the monitor recognize as 2 or 1 monitor over 1 alt display port cable?
A18. The Pro version is designed to toggle between a large screen setup recognized as a single monitor and a split-screen mode perceived as two separate monitors.
Important considerations:
For Mac users: A connection through the USB-C port and installation of the DisplayLink driver are necessary to enable dual monitor recognition.
When utilizing an HDMI connection, the portable screen in split-screen mode is limited to mirror mode functionality only.
Q19. Is it equipped with VRR, FreeSync, or G-Sync capabilities?
A19. Unfortunately, no. It doesn't come with VRR, FreeSync, or G-Sync features.
Q20. Are other magnetic stands on the market compatible with the FlipGo?
A20. Unfortunately, they are not compatible. We recommend using our Snap Stand, Snap VESA Adapter, or Flex Folio. These accessories are specifically designed for the FlipGo, ensuring superior compatibility and magnetic strength for the best user experience.
Q21. Is there a risk of the FlipGo falling off the magnetic mount?
A21. Under normal circumstances, the magnetic force of the FlipGo is sufficient for regular use. However, there is a risk of it falling off when subjected to external forces such as being touched by hands or other objects.
Q22. Does this monitor come with built-in speakers?
A22. Nope, it doesn't have speakers built-in.
