Everything I needed to do the battery upgrade was included in the box. JSAUX also provides step-by-step written instructions with pictures as well as a video tutorial to follow. Overall, the upgrade process was relatively easy. Plus, the larger battery capacity really does extend my gaming sessions by quite a bit.
Concluding our review, we found the JSAUX 65Wh battery to be a good product. It extends the running time of your 1st Gen Rog Ally from 1 hour at 25watts operating mode, up to almost 2x, and with lower TDPs you will get even higher differences.
For $79.99, this battery mod for the ROG Ally offers some decent value for anyone tired of frequently reaching for the charger while playing. The extended battery life, cooler operation and easy installation make it a great option for those who want to focus on gaming instead of babysitting their battery all the time.

Using a 2230 to 2280 SSD adapter is not compatible with our provided heatsink. Additionally, the battery cable will be compressed beneath the adapter, which may affect performance and longevity.

If you’re looking to turn your ROG Ally into a total beast, this Battery & Thermal Upgrade Kit is the way to go. Here’s the lowdown:
The Build & Install If you’ve got even a little bit of technical DIY skill, the install is a breeze. The quality is honestly top-notch—it feels way more premium than those sketchy AliExpress versions. Everything just feels "right." (despite AliExpress 74wh variants not coming with good heat dissipation / metal plate and fixings will degrade much faster).
The New Back Plate The fitment is spot on. I was worried it might mess with my Skull & Co. Grip Case, but it actually fits better now. It’s a tighter, more solid fit with absolutely zero movement or creaking. Performance
* Battery: This is the star of the show. It’s a massive improvement over stock. No more living next to a wall outlet.
* Thermals: It’s not a night-and-day difference, but it definitely helps. It’s a small, steady improvement that keeps things just a bit cooler during heavy sessions.
The Heft Total weight is sitting around 830g–840g now. You’ll definitely feel the extra weight in your hands, but for the gains you're getting, it is totally worth it. Verdict: If you want that "Pro" handheld feel and actually want to play away from a charger, just do it.
Let's start with the amazing. Which is the battery. The major flaw in my OG Ally is now fixed.
All the rest is a bit "meh" the extra heatsink does lift the thermal load a bit. But not enough to really help out. That thing is now back in the box in favor of a m.2 2280 mod.
The new back plate is also fine. But due to a little misalignment I damaged the screw points l. This might be mostly my fault but still the damage is there.
The kit is very complete. All screws are there and a few extra but I don't think that was really needed. I would rather have the cheaper kit.
This is genuinely transformative!
I love my Rog Ally, my son has a Rog Ally X so i've been able to compare them in the real world and I see no need to upgrade for performance sake.
However, the battery was a massive issue and I always felt I had to be close to an outlet. I was looking at buying a new handheld for that reason alone... with prices at the moment I really didnt want to upgrade for minimal performance gains.
This battery came with all the kit and was super easy to fit (if you have basic ability with a screwdriver, just watch a youtube video) I even kept the original back on it by sanding down some of the protruding plastic so my ally still looks OEM.
Its now been installed for a couple of months and it has tranformed my Ally and how I use it. I was recently on a 3 hour flight and played Mass Effect at 900p for the entire fight with 30% left when I landed and it was the last mission on the citadel so well worth it.
Its 25w bigger than OEM but it lasts longer than than the size alone would suggest in real life. I cant expalin why 🤷🏻♂️ the LTT video points to this when I researched the pack too.
All in all an absolute bargain. If you have an Ally just do this and save yourself $1000 over a new one.
This was my first jsaux purchase and based on the quality of this product Ill come back to jsaux for more 👍🏼
