Great dock overall, with a few caveats

I've bought this because I bought an ASUS ROG Ally and upgraded the SSD to a 1 TB one, and I wanted to utilize the stock SSD as well. Overall, I am satisfied with what I got for my money, it is sturdy, the metal feels nice, it houses the SSD well, the cover fits nicely. It can heat up if you strain the SSD enclosed, but not too badly, and the cable is a tad short and thus its strains up when you put in an Ally with a protective body case in it. The biggest thing that was I think a bit swept under the rug when this was advertised for the Ally is that the 65w charging cable provided (or any 65w charging cable for that matter) is not enough for my Ally to reach the on-charger 30w performance while docked, you need to purchase a 100w charging cable and plug the dock on that for the Ally to receive 65w through the dock. I would gladly pay a bit more if they would have included a 100w charger, or at least had an option to get the dock with one.

Solid piece of kit

I really like this dock after using it daily for the past 2 months. Definitely recommend, with a couple of caveats.

Pros:
- No technical issues, does exactly what it says on the tin.
- Feels pretty good popping it in and out to swap between desktop and handheld.
- I haven't had a chance to try out the M.2 port yet but it's nice to have for the future.

Cons:
- I don't like the silver/grey housing on the USB-C plug, it catches the light and is distracting. I have it sat directly under my monitor, extended desktop, so it would be nice if future versions had a slimmer, lower profile, deck interface/plug to minimise reflection and screen occlusion.
- Might also be nice to have an all-black version of the dock.
- If, like me, only having 2 USB-A ports is an issue for you, you'll need to buy an additional hub. I've though about buying the RGB 12-in-one but i'd rather not lose the M.2 port.
- The USB-C port is PD(power delivery)-only. You might need a USB-C-to-A adapter.*

* Tbf JSAUX do sell some niice cables and adapters, just a shame they're obsessed with silver/grey(it looks smart, don't get me wrong, I just know that will put some off). Personally, I run a USB-C extender cable down the back of my desk** to plug in my deck on my lap so I can use the excellent built in controls while still playing on the big screen. (and I will continue to until Valve gets around to releasing a Steam Controller 2)

** Bonus product suggestion: Splitter adaptor ( dock -> u-shaped deck plug + rear facing plug ) - email me ;;)

disappointment

when it works, it’s great. however it CONSTANTLY suffers from connection issues with the HDMI port. i have tried 5 different brands of 2.1 hdmi cables. i have tried using the stock charger and the charger that is included with the dock. it just keeps disconnecting from the display. i have tried changing tv settings, messing with everything to try to get this damn thing to work smoothly and it just won’t. so disappointing considering how expensive it is. it disconnects for a few seconds every couple minutes sometimes. this occurs with both my brand new TCL 4k tv and with my older Sony TV.
